Ultrafiltration (UF) system is usually made of hollow fiber material with 0.1 ~ 0.001㎏/㎠ of pore size. It has intermediate performance between micro filtration (M/F) and reverse osmosis (R/O) method, and fine particle and microbes (algae, coliform, general bacteria, etc) can be effectively removed except ionic element. Due to superior separation and permeability, specific substance with mixture of high molecular weight and low molecular weight can be extracted and refined.
Classification of filtration method :
Filtration method can be classified by reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF) or low pressure RO, ultrafiltration (UF), microfiltration (MF), and electrodialysis (ED) by the size of removed particle. Membranes for filtration methods are reverse osmosis membrane, nanofiltration membrane, ultrafiltration membrane, and microfiltration membrane.
CONCENTRATION
It is a concentrating and recollecting method for specific solute by removal of solvent. It can concentrate within limited range of concentration, and economic operation by considering filtration performance by concentration is needed.
PURIFICATION
It is the way to remove impurities such as high molecular weight or low molecular weight solute and particle from solvent. It is widely used in industrial applications such as ultrapure water preparation, injection solution preparation, drinking water preparation, etc.
